Average MPG Display

Featured Replies

I normally have the Average MPG on my dashboard, no particular reason just habit, thing is when I start the car from cold it would show something like 20 MPG then quickly rise as the car warmed..

A few weeks ago the car was In a main dealer for an oil/ filter service and since then it shows pretty much the same all the time whether the car is cold or warmed up 44 ish MPG, it changes by a few points but not much, ok its not a major concern  but could they have done a software update or something? I dont think the service will have been the cause.

Curious.

Are you now looking at long term average, as opposed to say since start average?

Yes long term not the actual which changes rapidly.

RE Software Updates.

You should always ask before a Service if there are Software Updates, and if they do not know until the Technician plugs the car in they should be asking if you want them.

When you hand in the keys you do sign allowing Software Updates.   Not 'The Fix' though.

When you collect a car the Service Desk Employee should know a software update was done, or Service Campaigns and tell a driver.

@Greenie58

Do you 'zero Average 2' before trips or anytime?    Average 1 zero's it's self.

Just checked its definitely the long term that has changed .

That does not make sense. The single journey average reading will start off low and increase as the engine warms up. It will reset automatically about 1 1/2 hrs after switch off.

The long term average will change very little if you have done a lot of miles- unless a reset has been done.

I reckon that, yes, you are viewing the long term mpg (which changes a little) and previously you were viewing the single journey mpg (which changes a lot).

You can have four displays. immediate mpg, since start, since refuel and long term.

It sounds like you were on since start before and now you are on long term.

I can’t see four displays unless I’m losing the plot! I’ll report back when Iv had another look but it won’t be tonight.

This.

It will cycle the display between Since Start, Since Refuel and Long Term.

Many of the displays in the maxidot have additional information available by pressing the scroll wheel.
