Skoda Fabia 2011 - Hose broke - What is this hose?

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I had a quick question.

For the last couple of weeks when my Skoda fabia was idling, it would start to have a strong gas smell coming through the AC.

When checking for Gas leaks, I could not find anything. However I noticed this hose in the pictures attached was broken. The end of the tube going into the Motor (the plastic bit) seems to have been broken off. Tube goes from Motor to looks like ventilation before going through the air filter.

I did plug the hose back in (with the broken piece you can still put it back into the hole on the motor), and when idling, the gas smell is gone, however after 5-10 minutes of driving, the hose gets put back out of place.

Looks like I can simply replace this hose, the problem is, anyone know what this hose is called? I have looked online, and have had no luck. Also the numbering on the hose hasnt been able to help me either.

Thanks in advance!

Its the pcv valve, about £16 for a new one. Common breakage, take great care, pull out the rubber grommet that it sits in, in the cam cover and try and recover the broken end lodged in there, don't just push the new part in as the broken hard plastic bit still in there will get into the valve gear and potential for damage if it holds an inlet/exhaust valve open.

Item 21 (pcv valve), Item 24 (grommet) here

Thank you for the quick reply - Yeh i figured it would be to great if the broken bit gets pushed into the motor.

Thanks for the link as well  - though the link is broken ;)

Welcome.

The link is not broken, unlike the part on your car, and maybe your device used to read this thread.
