Skoda Finance

I have recently acquired a new Skoda Superb L and K using Skoda (VW) Finance. I phoned Skoda Finance today to tell them that I wished to pay down some of the loan and for the sum I mentioned how much would the monthly payment be reduced by. I was told that they cannot provide that information. I need to make the payment to find out that effect it would have on the monthly repayments That it a bit like going into a grocers shop with £5 and asking how many apples the money will buy. Only to be told by the grocer "give me the £5 and then I will tell you how many apples you are going to get".

This is the written response I received

Has anyone else had unsatisfactory dealings with Skoda finance and if so how did it get resolved?

Hi Martyn, I've also had a nightmare getting an answer with VWFS, thankfully the Fabia is on 0% so my answer was quite straight forward without their involvement.

Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs; if you want a quick napkin maths answer without VWFS involvement, you can figure it out by how many payments you have left, then divide your input by that figure. Your GFV does not come into the equation - it is worth that much with or without you adding £.

Example;

45 monthly payments remain at £200pcm

I want to add £1000 to the pot. 1000/45 = 22.22.

Monthly payments will reduce by £22.22 making the monthly cost £177.78.

Of course, nothing is that simple and you will need to add interest to the balance annually, as per VWFS;

https://www.vwfinance.co.uk/content/sites/vwbank/vwfinancecouk/en/privatecustomers/faqs_and_glossary/QA/payments/interestcalc.html

The balance (cost less the initial deposit and the deferred optional final (balloon) payment) attracts interest at a flat rate per annum and this, together with the amount borrowed and optional interest is repaid over the life of the Agreement.

If you're within 14 days of purchase you can purchase the car outright, keep the PCP savings and not pay the APR% that Skoda are currently charging (you can get a good 2% loan elsewhere in comparison).
