Auto Hold Failure !!

Featured Replies

On the way home from work last night as I braked a warning pinged up on the dash "Parking brake failure" and a yellow warning triangle at the bottom of the maxidot, i was still moving at the time so found this a little disconcerting as I hadn't even tried to apply the parking brake ! When I pulled up at the next junction and came to a full stop another message popped up "Auto hold Unavailable".

At the first opportunity I got I pulled over turned the ignition off, removed the key and then restarted the car, no warnings whatsoever, thinking this was a glitch I proceeded on my merry way, next junction I noticed the auto hold didn't engage (no green indicator on the dash) and taking my foot off the brake resulted in the car creeping forward. The parking brake appears to be functioning fine (red indicator illuminates).

Phone call to the dealer today and it's booked in for next week, strange how it doesn't repeat the error/warning after restart though.

Is the auto-hold still turned on (button lit up)? If not, try pressing it!

Never thought of that, TBH I didn't know you could turn it off (why would you ?), still going to get the dealer to look at it, as I notice that even if you turn it off manually it doesn't give any indication on the Maxidot like I had after the parking brake failure warning. Might just be a glitch and never happens again (let's hope so).

Turning it off makes parking in tight spaces a little less butt clenching
