We start this years holiday by driving the Blue Ridge Parkway from Virginia down to North Carolina. Has anyone here driven this route, if so any info would be useful.

Thanks.

Yes. But a very long time ago.  I believe the speed limit is very low so watch out for speed traps.

Stunning scenery of course.

We visited a couple of NASCAR team sites. Good displays.

Thanks for that BoxerBoy. The max speed limit is 45mph, but in some places it can be as low as 25mph. I've mapped out a route, which means we come off of the Parkway for overnight hotel stops. We visited Indianapolis on our last road trip, but it's the civil war sites I like to visit.

It's been a few weeks since we completed out road trip from Washington to Miami via the Blue Ridge Parkway. Picked up the rental car at Washington Dulles airport, the car was a Ford Fusion sedan Hybrid. At the end of the second day I stopped to fill up, came out of the Gas station went over the road to a restaurant and picked up a puncture as I pulled into the parking lot. No spare wheel with the car, so Avis decided to send out another car. The rest of our trip was in a GMC Terrain SUV, which was OK. Stunning views on the parkway and a nice relaxed drive.

After the Parkway we went to Stone Mountain in Georgia and then spent a couple of days in Savannah before driving to Miami via Jacksonville and the Daytona speedway.
