Fabia pre facelift bumper ventilation grills

2009 pre facelift Fabia 1.2HTP  Hatchback level 2

Just noticed today that drivers side 2/3rds of vent grille is open. Always thought it was closed, solid like the left 1/3rd.

Can anyone confirm this is normal and something hasn't dropped out?

Edit: A quick trawl of the internet shows lots of pics of the part 5J0807368 same as my car. So must be normal. Strange as the facelift Fabia we also have is a fully closed part.

I think I am correct in saying that the towing eye, or at least its screw fitting, is retained in there so it is most likely open to screw the eye in if you are unlucky enough to need a tow! This seems an extreme reason to have an open grille, though so perhaps there is another reason, such as an intercooler or another cooling point for the car behind there, too!

Yes it is where the intercooler goes on the diesel versions. it is a useful area to put a second horn if you find the original one a bit rubbish.

I have never had a problem with my horn. Works well and is easily up to the job in hand! (You can see I grew up on the old "Carry-on films", where no double entendre is left un-tendre'd)!
