Electricity tariff at 7p/kWh now, 7.5p  previously.  Let's round up and say 5000 kWh used, 90% AC at 8 p/kWh and 10% DC supercharging at 40 p/kWh.

£360 AC charging, £200 DC charging => £560

3.2p per mile.

I should drive it more before tax gets introduced 🤔

There was a feedback survey. The only thing I think need improving is suspension at low speed over potholes. I'm very happy with everything else, 99% perfect car for me.

What size wheel do you have on ?

I glad the Scenic is coming with 19s rather than 20s as the bigger wheel harden the ride and take 10 or 20 miles of the range.

Will you consider the Juniper model when it comes out in a few months ?

Standard 19 inch, I always choose the smallest. I'm very glad to be able to choose the smallest wheel on a high trim model.

So far, from changes made to Highland vs 2018 M3, I'm not tempted by Juniper. Interior ambient lighting.... meh, stalk-less.... I can adapt but not keen, better ride..... tempting but not better enough to worth the price to change.

Only thing to tempt me out of this car would be a practical 7 seater Tesla (not the unnecessarily complicated MX doors,  the 7 seats are nice to have for short trips so MY 7 seater is preferred, don't want any bigger) on much much better suspension (for example air suspension). I would have definitely ticked 7 seater if it were available to order back then.

Don't change anything else, the stream of new software feature updates, the screen and the way user interact with the car via app/screen is perfect, I feel.

Model Y long-range RWD has 373 miles range for just £47k.

Unlike M3, MY RWD gets all the interior features including full speaker setup. Only thing missing is front fog lights and the dual-motor badge.

Really spacious EV with backing of supercharger network and true range well over 300 miles in any UK weather, all for £47k. This is unbeatable value.

Of course, in 2 years time this will be the spec to get for £25k-30k.

7 seater for LR AWD trim now available in UK for a whopping £2500 extra.

But it's tighter than I imagined....... 3rd row is small kids only and affects second row leg room.

Snow White and six dwarfs.

Have to be the EV9 then.

Stalk is back!

Front camera will be great if it's true.  (but M3 had removed it in volume production)

HW4 and suspension upgrade from my car.

But don't like the BYD look for all exterior lights.

Just like everything things in tech, not worth upgrading to the immediate next generation.

-edit:

Also powered frunk and powered rear folding seats from the product page animations.

The product page makes a note about front nose camera, so it will probably be true.

Fully spec'd out it's so cheap over there:

New Y here in UK, "launch edition" for £61k with a few extras pre-configured.

On sale at same time as old model on their website. Looks like the expensive launch edition is to clear stock of old model. Within a few years that extra spent for launch edition will mean diddly squat.

Stephen Fry has fielded a joke (not very PC) :-

Elon Musk is not a Nazi !  Nazis made very good cars !!

Ferdinand Porsche and his company were quite accomplished engineers hard to deny.

Test drove the new Y (launch edition) today at Everything Electric show.

Lovely colour. But not a fan of new DLR's.

Largely same car inside, except a few excellent minor changes: front nose camera, much better damped suspension, ventilated seats and rear screen.

There was a new one parked that i passed in Maroon / Burgundy / Ribena sort of colour.

It looked very very smart and terrible to touch up if it needed to be.

EDIT. I can not see the colour i saw as an option.

Will try and get a picture later if the car i back where it was.

I doubt it was a wrap but it could have been. Or maybe not a Model Y. More likely.

Is it the old shape Y?

There had been 3 versions of red over the years. Regular red from 2022, cherry red from German factory and newest ultra red. I think the new shape comes in ultra red.

I’m staying up on The Wirral at the moment with a friend who has just had her car written off.

Looking at cars today, and I’ve just had an hour’s test drive in a Model Y Launch Edition. I have to say I was totally blown away by it. Awesome car, that I struggle to fault at all.

It’s certainly made me reflect and reevaluate my views on EV’s, as the test drive was a revelation and thoroughly enjoyable experience. That I can actually afford one (might even be better off) was a real surprise!
