Sat nav can’t find roads

Featured Replies

They’re not even newly built roads either

the maps are up to date according to 3 yrs ago when the car was built :D

the roads are (if you want to look up on yours in case it’s just mine?) blaenant street, port Talbot and the green, Duloe

Nothing would surprise me. I tried entering the postcode for the channel tunnel which has been with us for 25 years this year (where the hell did that go!) and it didn't recognise it.

It's CT18 8XX btw.

Tried putting in Cite Europe, Auchan in Coquelles using their postcodes... Nah, didn't like that either. Complete and utter waste of time, money & space!

It therefore might not entirely surprise you that Google Maps on my phone found it all more or less straight away and that's what I used.

TBQH, I'm becoming quite annoyed with Skoda and their car, I've done a VCDS sweep and it's littered with glitches and the Sat-Nav is more Sat Not, than Nav, not good for the money I paid and will be paying. :@

Also the map updates that Skoda are offering are farcical, you can't have the whole of the EU anymore, you can only have bits of it, so if you're doing a lot of distance over multiple countries you'll need two cards and have to have any music on a USB stick.

Just tried the Blaenent Street & The Green, Duloe in mine & found both no problem. Have also been to France a couple of times recently & had no problem with Eurotunnel  terminals, just checked again & CT18 8XX works fine.  Had previous problem searching for addresses in Wales (& France) until I remembered to set the correct country.

I have trouble getting the stupid thing to find they simplest of destinations, yet under the old interface & mapping I had no issues with it finding the channel tunnel, numerous locations (POIs) in the backwaters of Somerset, I'll be using Google Maps or my trusty Garmin from now on, especially now that they've done all of these weird disjointed maps.

I blame Brexit! :happy::giggle:

It won’t let me enter post codes at all, just checked and maps are already up to date from last time as they were ‘locked in’ or something?

I think there is something in map settings about destination formats or something like that, had to change this on my Columbus to recognise postcodes.

I’ve been through loads of menus on my Amundsen, so unless I’m missing something?

is the option possibly Skoda main dealership or software update territory?

To enter map co-ordinates, I have to tap the 'world/chequered flag' (? from memory) icon top right of the screen. Maybe the postcode capability is there? I can't check as my wife is out in the car right now.

Yes I found the Satnav a little difficult, turned the dam thing off in the end and stuck the Tom Tom in the window. Will have to persist with it when I have some free time.

It may not surprise everyone that mother seems to have problems finding the roads with the state of her car which she's :swear: pranged again!

Another £500+ bill to pay.

I know the Columbus & Amundsen are different beasts, but do they share the same maps (albeit on runs from SD one runs from HDD)?

I have the MIB 2.5 Columbus (I think - 565035020A) and it's yet to fail me, getting me everywhere I have needed to go, to the doorstep.
