Thermometer probes can't evaporate, screenwash can.  Look up 'latent heat of evaporation'.

Some seem to have never even had hot soup.

Glenshee this morning was a bit warmer than 1,500 ft lower down. 4 degrees C warmer.

The Lecht is colder but just a lovely blue cloudless sky.

The only non freezing washer fluid available there is whisky iirc. :excl:

3 degrees per thousand feet ?

Can confirm it is much COLDER at 12,000 feet above sea level beyond the tree line on Mount Kenya (2nd highest in Africa) than on the Nyali Beach, Mombassa (sea level) where it is usually 27C degrees.B)

Is that Fahrenheit? :blush

Yes often 32F at the summit of Mount Kenya (more than 17,000 feet above sea level) whereas Mombassa a nice 81F at sea level.

Not unusual to be around freezing or below at Sea Level in the UK and on the higher passes above 2,000 ft in the UK which might be 50 miles away it can be scrorchio.

Well maybe 10*oC which is warm enough to need a cool lager with your dram.

But have you taken into account the fall in atmospheric pressure, that effects boiling and freezing points of liquids? :nerd:

This thread is getting really stupid, so........to bringimg it down to earth......and on topic.....

I buy Vauxhall's Tradeclub screenwash from local Vauxhall dealer at £2.50+vat for 5 litres, supposedly the same as GM Opticlean, though personally I doubt it. I can confirm it has never frozen on me even at 1:4 dilution, has a pleasant whiff, and does not block fan jets.

Much much cheaper than the VAG stuff.

P.S. I do not live on a mountain or anywhere near the Artic circle or Africa in case you're wondering.
