New rear brake discs

Recommended Posts

I’ve just had my rear discs and pads replaced under Warrantee due to pitting, wow, how much nicer the car is to drive. No more grinding noises when reversing and no more droning from the rear of the car when cruising.

Dealer tried to charge me but when I protested they ‘found’ the technical bulletin. Seems they originally cocked up on disc and pad material, but I had to wait 2 weeks for the new ones to arrive.

Nice work getting them done under warranty

Any more details as it could help others in the same situation (or at least arm them with enough info as to not be fobbed off).

Do you have any paperwork referring to the TPI or similar?

I've had to do a few emergency stops, at varying speeds, to give my rear discs a cleaning.  The hubs and calipers look a right state though.  I think I'll be painting them in Summer.

Sorry, they wouldn’t give me the paperwork. Seems like Skoda are admitting that a batch of discs weren’t up to scratch. The car had 60% life in the rear pads and the car only has 18k miles, so no way the pitting to the discs was due to wear.

My only advice is to inspect the discs, any pitting on them on a relatively low mileage should get sorted foc.
