Good morning,

 

I bought a MY16 Octavia Scout DSG a few weeks ago. Every time I turn it on, I get the message "Lane Assist currently not available". What does this mean please? (besides the obvious). I guess my question is more, should this be available? Does it mean that there's a fault (still a month from being 3 years old so could run it to Skoda for checking if it's a fault)? Is there something that I can do to fix the problem? Is it a known problem? etc etc. Any help or guidance is much appreciated. 

 

I have had a search through the forums but can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. If it isn't a fault/problem, is there any way I can turn the message off from reminding me every time I get in the car that I didn't have enough money to buy a higher spec car!!!

Hello and welcome.

Its giving you that warning because your car should have that feature, or at least it believes it should have, but for some reason its not working. It's based on the optical sensor (camera) mounted on the windscreen just in front of the rear view mirror. Perhaps the camera has become disconnected or is broken or was removed?  

I'd go back to the person who sold you it and either demand they reinstate the feature, or modify the vehicle coding so it no longer warns you about it. 

Does the Scout not have LA as standard? All the Scout’s I have seen have had it. If you are getting a warning message it suggests that it isn’t working correctly. If you have the larger triangular shaped camera on the top of the windscreen you will have LA. If it’s showing a fault and it’s still under warranty, then take it back to Skoda and register the claim before the warranty expires  

As above, you have the message, therefore you have the feature but it is not working. Get it back to the dealer for it to be investigated.

It could just be a fault or it could just need recalibrating or adjusting if e.g. the windscreen has been replaced...

Yes all UK Scouts had it fitted, although I must say on my pre fl model it was hopeless, the new one is quite good.

 

Does the winssreeb have a skoda logo in the near side front corner?
