Boot won't lock

Featured Replies

Hi the wife came home tonight and started to rant on that the boot won't lock on our skoda yeti I've had a quick look and it seems to make a funny noise when you hold the boot handle in, The boot won't lock with the remote key and just sits open, has anyone had this problem and found a way of fixing it?

Had this problem with a fabia. Bought a complete boot lock mechanism from a breaker and replaced it for about £20. Rather cheaper than a new one.

The solenoid has probably failed. That is what moves the lock mechanism when you use the key to lock it or unlock

If it had failed in the locked position, you can climb into the boot from the car with the seats out of the way and there is an emergency release. Details in handbook

Reasonably simple to fit, the only difficulty is getting it positioned correctly so the boot shuts and locks in the correct position, not too tight or loose.

Thanks kenfowler

I have managed to find a new boot lock on ebay, anyone have any diograms on how to take the old one out

Been there, done that!

Replacement is straightforward although popping the boot trim off needs a firm hand to get going.  I used some thin wedges of plastic to gradually tease one edge up - once one or two had popped the others were easier.
