selling your old vcds cable on ebaay- dont do it

Featured Replies

thought i'd post this warning up for anyone selling or thinking of selling there vcds cable on ebaay

this is what happened to me

sold a genuine vcds cable on ebaay  in full working order,  buyer gets cable delivered next day, then a day later, claims it doesn't work, asking for a refund.

now ebaay  policy is to virtually always favour the buyer, so you have no option but to  give them there money back, obviously subject to return of goods.

so the cable arrives back a few days later and low and behold after trying on a few cars it's working just fine.

so the buyer has got himself free hire of vcds to do all his changes etc and you just have to go along with it.

now this got me thinking, what if the buyer  had swopped the genuine dongle or the internals of the dongle for a cheap Chinese fake, then sent it back, there's not a thing you could do about it, you'd just have to refund and suffer the loss.

the whole worlds full of con artists, chancers and thieving bra$$tards

so with ebaay it's seller beware        :envy:

Thanks for the heads up. I was planning on getting rid of my interface but not worth it for that hassle.

yea, it certainly isn't worth the hassle

the thing is, a lot of sellers are not aware of how ebaay works, I believe buyers get 30 days to return things and if they claim it doesn't work or not as described etc , they don't even have to pay for return postage, the seller has to pay.

when a buyer asks for a return, paypal freezes the money you  received from them in your paypal account and if you refuse to give a refund, ebaay usually always gives it back to them anyway.

would hate to be a business selling lots of things every day

In the end I was relived to get my cable back in working order and only really lost the postage,  could have easily been worse.

in the future I wont be selling anything on ebaay, will only use for buying
