Octavia scout

SWMBO, was looking at a scout yesterday, and I couldn't help noticing that it had normal reflector headlights with H7 bulbs in, yet it had headlight  washers , and a thought crossed my mind that since it had washers HIDs or even LED bulbs could be fitted to conform with the new MOT rules , or would it be a grey area???.

If the headlamps are not marked as being certified with HID or LED bulbs then fitting then should be an MOT fail. Only grey area would be if the MOT tester knows what to look for, or can be bothered to check. I know of at least one vehicle (not an Octavia) with reflector headlamps that are only certified for halogen that has been retrofitted with HID bulbs and passed it's MOT last month.

BTW my 2015 Elegance has halogen bulbs in reflector headlamps but also has factory fitted headlamp washers.

The headlights would only have an E mark , if anything never noticed anything else marked anywhere,

HCR Low and high (dip and main) beam headlamp, Class-B (usually halogen or LED)

All of my mk 2 Octivia's had fitted head lamp washers plus the 2 mk3's!

Headlight wash and halogens are standard on the MK3 Scout, HID was an extra. Aftermarket LED are a no no, there are so many tests out there that show the light output is poorer than halogen.  Aftermarket HID is far better than it used to be but still an MOT fail.

Just go for some decent H7 halogen bulbs instead, GE 150% brighter came out top in the tests.
