Apple car play

Featured Replies

Has anybody had problems with apple car play. Mine when using iTunes has momentary pauses in the music and also crackling just like a CD with a scratch. I’ve spoken to a friend who has a Vauxhall and has no problems at all. When I spoke to the dealership the said it was an Apple problem! But if it works on one make it should work on another. Or am I being too simplistic. Look forward to any ideas on this.

Hi there,

In the first instance, rebooting the phone might cure the problem.

You could also try deleting the pairing and reconnecting.

What iOS are you running? The connection was flaky at best (for me) until upgrading to iOS 12 some time ago.

Another simple thing to do is clean out the Lightning port gently with a toothpick or small paint brush...you’d be surprised at how much pocket fluff can get stored in there, giving an intermittent connection.

And finally, check your cable...are you using an original Apple cable, or a cheap Chinese knock-off? The majority of the cheap cables don’t use the official chipset from Apple and aren’t always that reliable.

Every now and again mine doesn’t connect, but I’ve never had a problem with distorted sound; do you have any streaming services you can try to see if the music distorts with them other than just with your stored music?

Hope that helps!

Hi Nick,

i have tried 3 different phones a6 8 & X three genuine Apple cables. It’s been to the dealership and had the latest Skoda software update. Which did not cure the problem. I’ve now been advised by Skoda customer care to try an Android smartphone on the Android facility on the infotainment for a compatibility test. So it’s booked in again for this to be done. I think this is to find out if it’s a physical fault or a software problem. Will let you know what the findings are.

Sorry to hear you’ve gone through so much testing, and it does sound like there’s a proper fault.

I’m surprised they didn’t try an Android device when they had it in last time, however even if that does work, it’s no use to you as an Apple user!

Just another thought, what file format are your songs ripped in?

Are the different phones you’ve tried all synced to the same or different iTunes libraries?

I hope you get it resolved quickly, as it’s a great feature.

Cheerio,

Nick
