I wonder if I can install a door control module from a right-hand drive car in my left-hand drive one?

The software will be different between a LHD drivers/RHD passenger or LHD passenger/RHD drivers side control module.

 

You might be able to replace the motor and swap the electronic module over. Not something I've tried...

I did. 

I placed the electronic control module into my ordinary LHD motor, no way. It didn’t fix the problem.

My car is LHD and doesn’t have folding mirrors, so I decided to install pair of folding mirrors. 

 

I brought folding mirrors and folding control button from LHD car, then I brought the control + motor unit for both doors from RHD UK car. I installed the electric control+ motor as is then I got the functions of both doors reversed. So I programmed it through VCDS as LDH car and I got everything reverted back to its original position except the mirror motion itself ( still moving opposite directions). After one month, I lost folding option again and nothing is working now. 

 

I placed the RHD control module into the LHD lift motor, but still nothing fixed. 

 

Attached is the RHD control module with LHD lift motor installed in my driver’s door.

If you mean the up/down and left/right of the actual mirror, you might be able to fix it by switching some wires over between the mirror and door controller.

 

Probably won't work if you have memory motors fitted.

Sounds like you need to start with a VCDS autoscan to see if there are any clues.
