Skoda Connect App

Featured Replies

Well, they say you can't polish one, but Skoda App developers seem to have had a go. Just updated the app, and what was the point  in the update? It does absolutely nothing different to the previous version, just a slightly rearranged format.

Moderators, please feel free to move to a more relevant section.

I agree, having received an email earlier in the week promising new features I certainly can’t find them and as for the easier to log in bit, the twice I’ve looked at the app today I’ve been asked to log in each time and takes ages to load. Copied from said email...

The purpose of this maintenance is to simplify the registration and login process, as well as bringing you a new and improved ŠKODA Connect App, with a modern design and new features.“

In the tips it was written that you can now lock and unlock the car, but I can't find this option in the menus. Is it needed also a software update of the car?

I am OVERWHELMED (not) by this radical update. Plenty of turd polishing, now with flashy carousel tiling :fubar: Information that would easily fit on one page spread over several..

There is ONE major change that I noticed. As an imperialist, I have selected mpg....look at my consumption plotted in their bar graph. Higher mpg equates to shorter bars, yeah......their super probably overpaid app programmers too lazy to check anything. Mpg is NOT the same as l/100km !!!!

They offered me a discount to renew. Still a ridiculous price. I wouldn't consider paying at all in fact, as this app is the way dealers track you and pester you for servicing work. As they probably have access to my cars location, speed and other data this is IMO a big Privacy issue.

So next month it'll be Skoda Disconnect.

Look at the bright side. Paying a yearly fee you support dumb programmers and rich managers at Skoda. Simply clever. For them.

1 milion cars x 75 euros per year = 75 000 000 euros yearly profit with 15-20 000 euros expense for one half-brain programmer.

Truly clever. And simple. Cheers!

Pa_ko, I would tend to agree, but, beside the App, there is a special module in the car, which has internet connection by a SIM card and an interface with the car systems; it's the module that provides also the SOS functionality, locate on roof, in the place of the sun glasses holder.

But what that equipment has to do with yearly fee? Equipment is already paid when you both the car. And data they collect are more valuable to Skoda (they use it for machine learning and marketing, probably selling it to third parties as whole new policy rules suggests). Other companies (Google, Facebook) are also using our data for making huge profits but they don't charge us yearly fee.

Skoda is not only selling us a thin air for big money, but is reselling our data for even bigger gains. More than Clever IMHO

And I feel not only cheated (this can I forget to so done truly clever) but treated as a moron for having to pay for such 'service'. BTW most other companies have call centers free for use or pay per use. So even SOS is overpriced and cheat in comparison.
