Octavia II 1.9TDI, red power steering icon, VCDS

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have this power steering issue with my Octavia II 1.9tdi 2007. I have drained my battery in winter and had first this orange power steering icon on dash which turned into red icon after connecting VCDS to the OBD port. I think at first the adaptation went wrong after the dead battery. Also I think I have deleted the adaptation with VAG CAN PRO. I have this vag can pro and vcds interface.

Maybe someone had a similar issue with the power assist and can share how I can fix it ?

The power assist works but not as good as it should, have to put  more power to turn the steering wheel and there are three beeps after turning on the ignition straight away.

Here are some fault codes I was able to read with VCDS:

Have you driven it 50 yards in a straight line yet?

They normally throw up the code when the battery is low or removed and the light goes out after driving a short distance.

Yes, I drive the car every other day. Also I did try this adaptation process before, where I turn the wheel right, left, straight. But I drive the car with this red icon and need it sorting for my next MOT :) also I have removed the battery and charged it with battery charger at home.
