Engine temp staying low

Featured Replies

I noticed today on my way back from a family break in Wales that my engine temp was really low. I drove all the way from north wales to Leicester with a 1 hour break and the temp gauge was sitting around 70 degrees. Is this right?

My 170 Superb normally takes sometime to heat up, it can take over 15 minutes to reach 90 however it will normally stay there. Today though it never got to 90 in fact I thought it was going down when sitting around 70 mph raising a little when I came off the mway but still only 80 degrees.

any ideas and should I be concerned?

If it’s a DSG. Do a search the DSG thermostat needs replacing. I have done mine to resolve this

Thanks for your response, do i need to change it ASAP or a week or so be ok? Are there any other symptoms caused by the faulty thermostat on the DSG?

It's not immediately vital but will be costing you with poorer MPG.

Thats good news thank you

hi I changed my dsg thermostat but it did not solve the problem, it was the engine thermostat which is not as easy to do, the dsg is easy 10 mins at the most, I would start with the dsg but if that does not do the trick check the engine thermostat
