Suspension Squeak!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

some of you may know I replaced the console bushes on the Fabia over the last week to get rid of a horrendous squeak.

all was fine until this morning when it returned. Ducked under the car and the console bushes look to be fine except it appears as though one has a slight chip or crack in it which wasn’t there when I installed it. Is this going to be why it’s now squeaking again or could it be something else.

should point out the only thing that isn’t new is the arb bushes.

It only squeaks over bumps now though and not when I’m braking or not accelerating.

any ideas would be great. Don’t want to have to do the console rubber again but I will if I have too lol

Possible clue.

I think it is the arb rubbers. Engine has warmed up and it’s stopped completely so I’m assuming the engine has warmed the arb rubbers up and stopped the squeaking

Well, you could try putting a little used brake fluid on them as a lubricant then. Also, is the squeaking less pronounced on wet roads?

I don’t know if it’s less squeaky on wet roads as it’s only been done a few days and it’s been dry. I’ve taken the car back out now and it’s still silent so I’m assuming the rubbers must have warmed up abit as it was cold this morning. I’ve got the arb rubbers already to go on just haven’t got round to it yet.
