New Car Ordered

Featured Replies

But not a Skoda!

I was going to wait to see if the issues around the 1.5 TSI were resolved satisfactorily and getting a Karoq but after looking at the 2.0 TSI as an alternative and finding that you can only have 4WD (not a complete deal breaker) and a panoramic roof (which is) I got frustrated and started to look elsewhere.

Didn't want anything much bigger than a Karoq but have ended up with something that is! A Volvo XC40 R-Design. 2.0 petrol FWD 190 bhp with a torque converter auto. Had a test drive and it's got plenty of go and is smoother than a smooth thing.

Not as individual as a Yeti but more so than many of the other SUVs. So it ticks most of the boxes really and am looking forward to it. Delivery expected in July.

Shall really miss the Yeti though but we want a petrol auto now.

Congrats VAGCF, the XC40 is a very, very nice car ... enjoy!

Nice car and spec ,saw one recently ice blue colour with a white roof which I don’t think did it justice but I didn’t pay for it.

Oh very nice.

Might be a bit bigger than I need but it's appealing

Was on our short list  - after sales was problematic.

I'm a big fan of Volvo - we replaced the Yeti with a new-shape XC60 and I considered a XC40 to replace our other car, but decided having one SUV in the family was enough (so a MINI is imminently inbound).  I do like the XC40 though and had it existed when we replaced the Yeti it would probably have been a real contender.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, having two SUVs doesn't make any sense for us though I accept it does for some folks. We are going in the opposite direction as my wife's Mini Cooper S is going - it will be nice to have some additional space on the drive! And she will be driving the XC40 more than she did the Yeti as I used to use that for commuting until I retired a few weeks ago.

Keeping the TT though so that we have the impractical and practical bases covered!

They do a bursting blue, which is darker, which is very nice. But have fancied a metallic red for a long time so have gone with fusion red. With the black roof of the R-Design it looks great.

That sounds like a lot better choice.

Congrats on the new order. When's it due to arrive?

I did notice something else though - an XC40 is shorter than a Karoq. I remember when I was looking around at lease replacements at the start of the year and it stuck in my mind. The '40 is only 2mm longer than the Yeti at 4425.

Unfortunately it didn't seem to be as flexible a load/boot area. And when comparing spec/deals on the Karoq vs Tiguan, that's what led me to VW's door :)

Enjoy it when it gets here - what colour have you gone for?

Get yourself a spare keyfob battery - mine went flat after four months,  and you need a screwdriver to change it.

and dont fit a dash cam near the rear view mirror it messes with the driver aids if you have them.

My dashcam is fitted behind the right side of the interior mirror and it has no effect on driver aids at all. My Yeti is SEL so has all aids and they work the same as before the dashcam was fitted.

Maybe the detectors are on the left side of the mirror?

XC 40 was on my short list but a little out of my price range, currently looking at a VW T-Cross.

Went for a colour change in the end. Love the Fusion Red and wanted a metallic red for a long time but thought it would be too much of a clash with the TT in metallic Samoa Orange.

So have gone for Bursting Blue which looks great as well.

Surprised that the size is so close to the Yeti as it looks and feels quite a bit bigger. Part of that is down to the high and flat bonnet but also it looks wider when I was looking at one parked next to the Yeti.

Boot is quite a bit longer and with the rear seats folded gives a nice long flat load area which is better than the Yeti and provides more than enough capacity for most tasks. If I need anymore I will use my trailer. So no more seats out which is good for me.

Picking it up next Friday, so not long now. 9 weeks from order.

Starting to see a few more colours on the road now,saw a very nice metallic grey today

Not that it was a particular reason for buying one but I haven't seen many round here despite there being a couple of dealers in the area. It's Evoque and Discovery Sport country round here!

What I do seem to be seeing is more and more Yetis! Given that production stopped a while ago now where are they coming from?

poor mans discovery / evoque?
