Columbus Radio & CarPlay / USB Port

Featured Replies

My iPhone has connected to CarPlay without issue for the last 13-14 months but in the last couple of weeks has not connected at all and will not stay charging through the USB Port below the air-con controls.

The system recognises that a USB device is connected and shows the 'Connecting' banner along the top of the screen for a few seconds but then disconnects (including stops charging). After a few minutes it tries to connect again but same result.

I have tried a couple of cables - no changes.

I have used the same cables to connect phone to one of the rear USB ports - no problem, stays charging (no data connection through these).

I have used the cables to connect phone to charger/laptop at home - no problem with charging or data transfer.

I intend to try use a friends phone later today to see if that works but has anyone experienced this issue before and is there a solution?

TIA

Did your iPhone do a software update to iOS12.2 just before the problem started?

iPhone software is 12.2 (16E227). I think it updated a few weeks before the issue started.

  • 1 month later...

I have a similar problem: MY 15 Scout Premium with columbus/canton System.  Carplay has workjed fine for 2 years. Then about a month ago I got back into the car and the radio did not work.  Stopped and turned off the car and after restart the rest of the system works OK but the system no longer recognises iphones or USB memory sticks.  Phones cannot be charged on the USB port.   Memory sticks flash four times - the USB handshake - but cannot be seen by the system.

iphone software is up to date.  I have reset the Smartlink component of the factory settings in the head unit to no effect..

Any Ideas anyone?
