Fabia Engine Mounts

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I’ve finally had enough of the excesses engine movement in my 2016 110psi 1.2 TSI.

Does anyone have any links to any aftermarket mounts that will fit my car, which will definitely fit and remove all this backlash?

Cheers,

These.

You can find them on eBay for £380 total.

VW dealer just fitted the TDI engined car version of the gearbox mounting to my wife's August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS when the original mounting felt a bit nasty/floppy while the car was just still under warranty, that sorted it out so far, nice and tight 10 months on!

I did this myself a few months ago, the previous gearbox mount was really soft, i could push the engine to the bump stops by hand really easy (which the engine movement had destroyed down to metal on metal rather than rubber).

After changing them i can still rock the engine a little, but its much reduced. Spinning the wheels does still get a little bit of wheel hop, but now its not slamming into metal on metal bump stops and the engine no longer feels like its about to rip itself out of the bottom of the car! Gear changes feel a little improved.

Personally i'm going to be changing a few things out on my car once funds are available;

VibraTechnics engine mounts, new shocks and lowering springs, maybe uprated anti roll bar, and a remap to 130bhp. I may look at a hybrid turbo mod at some point down the line too... for maybe 180-200 bhp :)

The diesel versions of the OEM mounts are a good mid-way. No vibrations and a nicer feel to the engine than original. I can still feel a little slack and wheel hop making the engine rock a tad though, so i'll be going VT.

Excellent to hear this annoying issue can be easily fixed. Other than the main dealer, do you guys know where I can order the diesel engine mounts and lower dog bone from? Also are the engine mounts in the mk3 Fabia the same as those fitted to the mk2? Struggling to find any parts for the mk3.

Cheers,

I've made a post somewhere the part numbers for the correct diesel mounts. I ordered mine from eBay.

One thing to consider, when I got VW to look into this annoying issue while the Polo was still under warranty, they removed, greased and refitted the original gearbox top mounting - but replaced all the bolts involved! They did the same when they replaced the original with the TDI version, so it looks like all these bolts have been fitted to "yield" point using the initial torque then an angular further tightening, so it is unadvisable to reuse them as they have been stretched to yield once already.

It probably would be a good idea, im actually in the process of buying a set of bolts for the dogbone mount i installed from a nearby skoda dealer. Mine were torqued to something like 70nm when i'm sure its only recommended about 45nm. Was a pain with about 12 inch gap under the car trying to get enough torque to undo those buggers!!
