2016 Scoda Octivia (Rattle coming from underneath)

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I drive a 2016 Scoda Octivia and i have noticed that a rattle noise when I drive over a slightly bumpy surface. When I press the brake slightly when the car is moving, the rattle disappears. - my mechanic changed the brake pads and greased etc..but the rattle noise has come back again. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice on where to go forward would be greatly appreciated.

it could be a suspension drop link, when mine started failing i would get a clonk from certain bumps but initially it was hard to replicate

Should have bought a Skoda Octavia :mmm:

Drop link could be the issue. Had to check them unless they are really worn. With the weight of the car on them, they might not move but when jacked up, you should feel no looseness on them. Still hard to spot as connected at both ends. When OFF the car, a worn one will most likely see one or the other end wobble, whilst a good one will barely move. My mechanic had the car over a pit, feeling/holding/listening to the link, whilst I was standing on the inner door sill, bouncing up and down with vigour, trying to find the loose link.

Once found and swapped, the looseness was so apparent, it was all floppy at one end. (ooh-err, missus)!

Cheers mate...I'll see about getting droplinks installed - tried everything else. Dam thing sounds like a skateboard going down the road atm. Will let you know if that cures it. Cheers for advice.

On the Fabia, I installed heavy duty Meyle ones. 4 year warranty and still cheaper then main dealer prices. I found mine on eBay. Cant advise as to if they make ones for your car but I would think they do. Avoid plastic ones as they have a tendency to snap under load!
