Columbus screen fault on startup

Featured Replies

Hi all, the Columbus unit in my 2014 Superb II elegance has started giving this "split" logo when it boots up, the system works fine but could this be a sign of some impending failure? Any thoughts, or experience of this out there?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Generally its a software failure, but occasionally it's a new screen needed Two different faults exhibit similar symptoms. Software reload for the first, new screen for the second, both of which I can do for you. Or software you should be able to do yourself if you know what your unit currently has.

Thanks for the information. Seems like a software reload is worth a try, how would I go about that, you said I should be able to do it myself.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

You need to find out first what software your unit is running. Press and hold the "Setup" button til you see "Version information", then check there for the SW number.

SW version 6270 (see pic). Strangely it was perfect on start up this morning.

Back to "split image" this morning. Any pointers on the process for a software reload.

Chris.

Sorry for the delay, been busy.

Sent you a message mate.

Hi all, hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread but I'v just had the same problem, got in car, turned on but display was slightly split near bottom of logo, also it was if it was stuck in like a "bootloop"????

got back home and went out 20 mins later and tried the old press and hold left/right/voice control for several seconds, radio came out of speakers and system restart on screen.

after a few mins restarted and seems to be working as normal??

id be interested and thankfull to hear what rustynuts advice message was and if this is the start of something more sinister????

thanks in advance

As Rustynuts said in response to my original post it could be software or screen. In my case a software reload appears to have solved the issue. Mine was just the screen problem, the unit worked fine otherwise, but it could have been a sign of it starting to go wrong. I suggest you message Rustynuts direct to find out the options for diagnosis/repair. I can say he certainly knows his stuff.
