Evolution Premium Wipers

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried/tested Evolution Premium wipers on their car?

I have been looking at them and compared to Bosch, they are around half the price but if they are only half as good or last half as long, its a false economy.

I have also used PIAA blades on a different car, which were good but after a while, smeared so cleaning of both screen and blades was needed, to work again as they leave a silicone deposit over time. This was meant to be a benefit, to let water roll off the glass but I think road film etc just made them smear. With cleaning, they lasted ages but even they wore out and cost a bomb, in comparison.

So, if the evo's are decent, I might fit them, otherwise, Bosch again!

..Well, I got a reply email from the manufacturer and they say they are up there, with the best of them or actually,

"Whilst EVOLUTION blades are an aftermarket, universal product - we use only the highest quality materials that are available to us which makes them one of, if not the highest quality universal wiper blades on the aftermarket whilst retaining competitive pricing. The Bosch blades tend to be the original equipment for a lot of vehicles and because of this as well as the weight of the Bosch brand, they can get away with charging more".

That quote is a direct copy and paste in part, of their message. They then go on to say they also sell exact fit blades under the Blades brand name, which they own.

So, perhaps the Blades version will be easier to install, although they have full instructions on which adaptor and how to fit the Evolution versions.

On Ebay, a pair of fronts sell for around a tenner so much cheaper then Bosch at around the same quality, if their spiel is to be believed. (No reason not to).

I will most likely give it a week or so to see if anyone else has feedback on these and if good or non existent, I may just dive in the deep and and try some!

I will also have a quick search for the exact fit version as it simplifies things to a degree, if a similar price.

Sure, but Evolution would say that, wouldn't they?

That was kinda my point! They are not going to say they are **** but they may well say they are a good average at a keen price. Hence the need for feedback from other users.

I came across one of the car magazine product tests and the blades came in 7th, with three points, against Bosch (The winner) At five points. The wiper action was apparently quite good, a little less quiet though, at around £12 a pair! They actually beat Halfords branded ones and they cost £29! Bosch are around £26 but can be purchased for around £20, if you search a little.

@mrgf - Well, the last time I bought a set of blades (rather than just an LH blade, which wears faster?) I went to Wiperblades.co.uk, and got all 3 Bosch for £20 delivered.

Yes, I've always found that a clever plan frequently is to buy know quality parts cheaply as compared with buying cheaper parts at normal prices - there will be exceptions maybe, but taking a risk and needing to replace very soon for better/known quality parts can be a nuisance - and the saving go out the window.

I had a look at that site, KenONeil recommended but they are now a bit over £20 for the fronts, extra for the rear and postage on top of around £4. Shame about that. Perhaps they have discount codes, like CP4L or ECP.
