3 cylinder 70hp 1.2 oil

Featured Replies

Hi all, quick question that googling/ searching cant give me a definitive answer to.

Recently picked up a 2014 fabia mk2, 3 cylinder 1.2 petrol and I cant find what viscosity of oil to use. Some say 5w30 some say 5w40.

I'm all ears Briskoda experts!

Cheers

5w 40 FS to VW502 will be fine for Fixed Servicing so every 9,400 miles / 372 days or sooner, and i would be doing that.

5w 30 FS LL to VW 504 / 507 if you want and still do fixed servicing.  I would not use that though.

Cheers Skoffski. That's the table from my service book. Car has been on fixed servicing. 5 years old, 8.5k miles and serviced 5 times!

Out of curiosity why not the 5w30? Is that what the Q number refers to?

Typo

The Q number refers to if an engine can be on Fixed or Variable servicing. The choice is up to the owners to go Variable if the code shows it can be.

If you love & cherish your engine and want it to have a long life IMO avoid Long Life oil with Petrol engines.

With a Diesel from VW you have no choice it needs to be Long Life oil.

Dealerships will use Long Life Oil to service cars regardless of Fixed or Variable servicing.
