How do I tell what infotainment system I have?

Featured Replies

Is there an easy way to do this? It not obvious to me.

If you want to know the part number, it’s in the settings under system information. If you want to know the name of the system, if it doesn’t have sat nav, it’s a Bolero, if it does have sat nav and it has a smaller screen (5.8 or 6.5 inches on the PFL) it’s an Amundsen. If it has nav and a larger screen (8 inches  on the PFL) it’s a Columbus. On the FL, the Amundsen has an 8 inch screen with swivel wheels on it, the Columbus has a 9.2 inch screen with no swivel wheels, just some touch buttons on the left.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm going to go and try and work it out. It's got Sat nav but not sure what size screen.

It's a 6.5 inch screen. What is FL, PFL?

Device part number is 5Q0035874B

Facelift and Pre Facelift. With that screen size and that part number it’s a MIB2 Amundsen :)

Sorry for not understanding another of these abbreviations...  MIB1 MIB2 ?

Thank you very much!

But that's not important right now.

It apparently stands for  "Modularer Infotainment Baukasten", but that's not very important either. They're the two main versions of the "infotainment" system found in the Mk III Octavia.

Version 2 was introduced with MY16 (Model Year), which was cars built from the end of May 2015. The biggest differences that I know of are that the second version has a bigger higher resolution screen on Bolero and Amundsen and can support Android Auto and Apple Carplay. There were further minor changes with the facelift.

Yes, thanks Rodge. I did Google it following the witty response 😎.  Thanks all the same for you reply.
