Aftermarket Alarm Recommendation -2014 Combi RS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

2014 RS Combi TDi with no OE alarm. can anyone recommend an alarm system which integrates as OE as possible with the car? Ideally I’d like to retrofit the OEM alarm system but not sure if that’s possible or if it’s economically viable. I am nervous about loom being damaged etc during the install and not really a fan of aftermarket car security but I feel I need to fit something to the car.

you can get a cobra 2-1 canbus alarm on ebay for £130,  works of your existing remote control.

its a reasonably easy diy job, [ cobra will give you wiring info for your car if you need it ] the latest models are all wireless between siren and control box  so even easier to fit.

i fitted a cobra canbus alarm to a caddy years ago and it never gave me any problems during the 8 years i had it.

Ghost alarm, this is a total deadlock for the car and you set the unlock pin using the controls on the steering wheel.

annoying having to press buttons every time you start the car though,

but i suppose its even more annoying though to find your pride and joy has disappeared

Ive got a few friends that run the system on their Golf R's and S3's. Ghost give a good warrenty as a car has yet to be started with one of these on it. However its like anything if they want it they will take it.

Have a look at the videos on youtube, its not a fiddly as i made it out to sound.
