Curbed 19" Xtremes - smart repair, refurb or replace?

Featured Replies

I'm considering getting my 19" Anthracite Xtremes refurbished. The diamond cut seems very easily damaged so would having them powder coated make them more resistant to scuffing?

Also my car is Quartz Grey so I'm thinking of maybe going with black powder coating, any thoughts?

Really pleased with my powder coated Black Xtremes

@jagdad Looks good, do you feel they are more scuff resistant?

I suspect that if you go anywhere near a kerb then they'll be scratched anyway, laws of physics with 1.5 tonne car and rotating piece of aluminium. But cheaper to refurb powder coat than diamond cut.

Agreed, cheaper to do, but also look great all in one colour!  IMHO of course!

Is this Anthracite?

@StuFan hi, it’s Gunmetal Grey

Cheers Dunc.

Gonna get mine done in the next 2 weeks and I'm going for a charcoal anthracite - probably the same kind of colour, maybe a shade darker. Been wanting mine done for ages so glad its finally happening!

Recently had to get one of mine refurbed at a cost of £108 at a local diamond cut wheel specialist. Looks like new from a distance, but you can see where the diamond cut is slightly more pronounced than factory when up close. Good work otherwise.

Wouldn’t have needed doing if Formula One Autocentres hadn’t damaged it 🤬

I still need to get one of mine done - I keep a look out for a replacement wheel instead, but of course people are rarely selling just a single wheel and even less likely to be selling an undamaged, single wheel. Will have to bite the bullet at some point.
