How replace rear offside brake light bulb

Featured Replies

In the manual I can't find any mention of how to do this.

No mention either of how to go about this in this forum.

Urgent help needed, thanks in advance for any pointers.

The necessary info is in the manual under the heading of Fuses.

No pointer from the index to this info.

Strangely, a search in this forum on 'brake light' doesn't return anything useful.

Whatever, problem solved.

Hi, depending on if you have pre or post facelift assuming it’s an estate, the difference is the cover for the two torx screws which retain the lights. Early have two round covers which can easily be removed to reveal the screws, facelift has a large plastic cover as can be seen in a recent post, which again just pulls off to reveal the screws. As you have a brake light out I assume you have a pre-facelift as the later ones are LED brake lights.

Once the screws (on both versions) are removed you need to get push gently to release the two ball fittings (also the same on both units) from the unit housing from the aperture on the side to free the unit from the car.

Rotate the bulb holder to gain access to the bulb. Do an ignition cycle so the control module sends fishing voltage to the bulb for the bulb check, it will then allow the bulb to work.

As you have sorted it and you have identified how to do it, perhaps you could write a post to let others also new to the brand how to do it from your point of view.
