Clutch wear indicator location

Featured Replies

Hello there

I've got a 2008 mkii 1.4 TDI and I've misplaced my workshop manual... Does anyone know where I can find the clutch wear indicator?

It needs a new timing belt so I'm just working out whether to keep it running or trade it in... Clutch wear will be a big factor in that decision.

Thanks in advance!

I dont believe there is such an indicator. I think i am correct in saying its purely a drive it and test it type fault, unless its the fluid that is low as it shares fluid with the brakes. Clutch wear is usually excessive pedal travel and/or clutch slip upon acceleration under load. Try driving up a gradient, in a gear too high for conditions, whilst trying to accelerate the car faster, rather then changing down to the lower gear. Slippage will become apparent once the turbo kicks in and produces enough power to overwhelm a weak and slipping clutch.
