DSG TSI 6SPD revs drop in gear and sport upshifts when not on the loud pedal???

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just wondered if anybody knows if my DSG is acting normal?

I've had a R32 2008 N/A DSG petrol, a 2017 VRS TDI DSG in the past both 6SPD but now got a 2018 VRS 230 TSI DSG 6SPD.

This latest DSG seems to act differently to the rest. So if I'm driving in D mode in 4th gear and take my foot off the gass the revs dip maybe 250 rpm instantly instead of running down with the engine, it doesn't seem to do it all the time which makes me think it may be a fault, it's also done it in 2nd before which makes for a unsmooth drive when you get back on the gas, It almost acts like it's in E mode but the revs don't drop as much.

Also when firing on in sport mode I'll reach say 3rd gear and let off the gas and the gearbox will still change up to 4th so when i bury my foot again it has to change back to 3rd then go again, very annoying!

I'm not sure if this DSG has a different map to the others but all the older DSGs used to keep in the gear you were in in Sport mode especially and the revs would slowly drop with the engine slowing down as soon as you let off the gas and i don't remember the other DSGs dropping revs while off the gas in gear under normal driving unless you were in eco mode.

It's a second hand car so hopefully it hasn't been remapped or my warranty might be void or maybe it's how a turbo petrol DSG acts under new emmision goals.

Any advice would be appreciated.

That does sound a bit strange. Good news for you is very, very few mess with the DSG programming. But diagnostics probably needed.
