new to this, so forgive any errors please. 5years of an octavia 1.6 petrol come to an end on friday, Pick up 54 plate octavia classic TDI PD. Join the ranks of heavy oil burners for the first time. Loved the petrol version, hope the TDI is as good.

Found the site looking for road tests etc.

Daughter getting a fabia 1.9TDI tomorrow.

Looking forward to finding lots of hints and tips.

Thanks for the welcome. Already got one good tip for the old GLXi, got the ciggy lighter to work again by turning off the childproofing! :O .

Picked the car up from Whitehill Skoda at Meopham this afternoon. Good PDI work, spotless inside and out. So far I'm impressed with the sheer grunt of the TDI engine and cruise at 70 with much lower revs than the petrol version. pick up from 50 to 70 is good too.

maybe it's an age thing but how come it takes two minutes to get comfortable in the driving position and hit the road and an hour to sort out the radio channels? Not brake fade, more like brain fade!

I get brain fade yet I drive a Fabia - it must be a Skoda thing: you just get lost in the "experience"

It's better! You'll love it. I speak as a convert from petrol to diesel myself. Now on my second diesel will never go back to petrol. (Unless I win the Lottery of course! )
