Panoramic roof service - any tips?

Featured Replies

Planning to service the panoramic roof on our 2014 L&K - I doubt it's ever been done and seems worthwhile giving it a little love and attention if it means it lasts.

I have the recommended £41 :o tube of VAG "solid lubricant paste" and planning to follow the instructions here

and here https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-discussion-112/how-lubricate-panoramic-sunroof-2891489/

As both of those guides aren't Yeti specific - just wondering if anyone had any tips / pointers / advice before I get stuck in at the weekend.

You may be able to get the dealer to carry out the work FOC as there was a service instruction issued a couple o years ago for issues with the panoramic sun roof rattling, always worth a try!

No rattles though - it's just preventative maintenance so I doubt they'd do anything for free + I have HUGE trust issues with main dealers so I prefer to give them a wide birth.

Would prefer to do it myself, or if that fails go to a sunroof specialist.

Looks pretty simple from the diagrams to be honest - just cleaning out the channel and re-greasing. I've read elsewhere it's best not to over apply the grease.

Best of luck

The Pan roof on my ex 230 started to rattle very badly, the frame was loose.  It needed to go to a specialist to repair, it  need a new  frame under warranty but I got rid and bought a 245.

The frames are bonded in from the factory so the replacement frame wouldn't be the same as the factory fitted one

Thanks but I'll say again it doesn't rattle 😛

I just want to know any tips for cleaning the runners and re-applying the grease from anyone that's done it.
