Brake pad/disc replacement guide.

Featured Replies

Please forgive me if there is a post somewhere. I've honestly been searching for about half an hour and can't find one.

I'm looking for a guide to replace the discs and/or pads on my 2012 Octavia VRS. There must be one on here somewhere?

Some good videos on YouTube if you search Mark 5 or 7 golf (Same running gear)

IMHO if you need a guide to replace the brakes then maybe you should leave it to the professionals.

But if you want to do it then buy a Workshop manual.

Plenty of tutorials on YT, same as any VW car from the era.

To the OP if you’ve replaced pads and discs on other cars then there is nothing new on the Skoda brakes. The front caliper pistons will push, the rears need winding in due to the handbrake.

If you’ve not done brakes before then make sure you have an axle stand and trolley jack for your own safety, you can do it without but if things go wrong it’s not worth it. Plenty of videos online or get a manual to ensure you are doing them correctly. Before putting any news discs and pads on make sure hubs and pad holders are cleaned and slide pins cleaned and re-greased. Take your time and if you start to feel out your depth then stop and get someone else to do the job.
