Car suddenly loses power!

Featured Replies

I have a brand new karoq, 1.5 sel dsg 2019.its been great so far after 3 weeks. last Tuesday, going on a 10mile journey the car suddenly lost power with no throttle response at all.

the throttle felt very stiff with resistance in it not like the easy motion it should have. with the throttle pushed flat to the floor I could not get more than 30mph! it eventually slowed down to a crawl . I stopped the engine and waited a few minutes, started up and away I went although throttle felt on the firm side. I continued my journey but had to have throttle flat to the floor to even get 30 or 40mph out of it. arrived at my journey , parked up for 3hours and set off home. it drove home no problems at all, I was using drive mode on my dsg.

took it to the skoda garage I bought it from on the Wednesday and they did a diagnostic. they could not find anything wrong with the system at all which is strange. there was no error codes or warning lights on the dash while this fault was happening either. today I went on a 20mile drive in sport mode on the dsg. it was great for a bout 10miles and then the throttle went all stiff again with no response at all even with foot to the floor again unlike the last episode at least the car kept going at a reasonable 40 to 50mph. it cleared itself for a bit ok but it did it again a couple of times, not good!! it seems to have the dreaded intermittent fault somewhere . has anyone or does any one have any idea of what the fault could be? has it ever happened to anyone and knows what it was and what fixed it? I am due to contact the mechanics tomorrow to get the car booked in to be sorted hopefully.

  • john999boy changed the title to Car suddenly loses power!

It has happened to others with a Karoq before and there are posts in this section on their experience.

The Dealership Master Tech needs to talk to Skoda because this is safety critical and could kill someone.

Leave the car with them and get a courtesy car or call Skoda Assist.   You should not drive the car.

Have you accidentally turned the speed limiter on it sets what  speed you are doing and will not go any faster you can have your foot to the floor

thanks for your reply skoda 1982, but no, unless it activates itself by some freakish reason. a good call though. I sometimes think though that modern day cars

have too many over the top gizmos, that they sometimes do have a mind of their own.
