The Great Culling of July 2019

Featured Replies

They as in VW, AUDI, SKODA, SEAT have to get emissions lower, no test cheating & putting out cars with dangerous driving characteristics to get WLTP / RDE results

and even with all their spin the Hybrids & EV's are not available in enough numbers and on the roads and not likely to be for a year or 3.

I ordered my Kodiaq SE 5 seat 1.5tsi DSG 3 weeks ago so was very worried to see the engine removed from the New prices and specs. I have just been speaking with the online chat people and my order has been accepted and a build week given. She confirmed despite its removal from the new specs it will be built to my order spec inc. the 1.5 engine. Not sure what that means for future orders but it seems they are at least still making them and able to fit them to the Kodiaq.

The other reasons for all these disappearances could be RDE

RDE step 1 (with a NOx conformity factor of 2.1) has applied since 1 September 2017 for new car types. It will apply to all types as from September 2019.

RDE step 2 (with a NOx conformity factor of 1.0 plus an error margin of 0.5) applies from January 2020 for new types and then from January 2021 for all types.

Probably

When I queried why the configurator showed the SEL as 190 TDi or 190 Tsi the answer came back that other engines (including the 2.0 150 tdi) were coming in September.

The press blame Brexit for falling sales - the real issue is that the manufacturers can't get models we want through approval and into the showrooms.

If this is true, then it shows how far behind the curve VAG is. Every other manufacturer seem to have their engines/models all compliant and tested ages ago. Im thinking that probably in many cases, in respect of emissions, their powertrain designs are simply superior.
