What Amundsen unit do I have??

Featured Replies

Hi all

I was wondering how I workout what Amundsen unit I have. I have a 2016 Mk3 Octavia SE L. I have in the glove box 2xSD Slots with no CD slot.

I am looking to update the maps as I have the 2016 package - Is this easy to do?

Thank you in advance..

2016 would be an MIB2 Amundsen. Easy way to tell is look at the sd card and see what the part number is. If it's a 5E0 card then MIB1, if it's a 5L0 card then MIB2 (unless someone has been playing about with swapping cards that is).

To be absolutely certain if you want, find the versions info page in the settings, find the part number, and google it to see what it is.

Thanks Rustynuts - It is an MIB2

Are the Maps easy to update on these things?

Yep, simply download the new maps, copy them onto your existing sd card, and shove it back in the machine.

I always copy the existing maps onto my PC first, so I can always revert to them if something has gone wrong during the download.

First of all, thanks Rusty for being such a helpful fella.

I've recently bought this little puppy from a vw tiguan it works like a charm, the sound is great and all BUT, there's no maps for Chile even though that tiguan was a model for the Chilean market.

Is there any chance to just copy the map onto a regular sd card?

Thanks in advance

I'm not certain VAG ever did maps for South American countries, but to answer your question. The unit you have is not an MIB Amundsen which is the topic of discussion here. The maps for your particular unit are supplied on a single use SD card which is VAG specific, and you can't use any other SD card to copy maps tomthe unit.

Seems very difficult to find something for rns 310/315 unit.

Well, I'll give it a try with an ebay vw card

You either have an RNS310 or an RNS315. They're very different despite looking the same. If that's your actual unit in the pic then it's an RNS315.  Maps for an RNS310 will not work.

I had a quick google, I can't see any South American maps for the RNS-310.

However, for the RNS-315 it looks like there are a few versions:

- V3    3AA-051-866-E
- V4    3AA-051-866-K
- V6    3AA-919-866-AD
- V7    3AA-051-866-AK

The latest looks to be 2016/17.

As always, please check the part number yourself before buying...

Hi Folks,

New to the page and new to Skoda's, so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place!

I just wondered if it was possible to update my maps on the Satnav for my Yeti 2013?

Although I can use my phone it would be useful to have up to date maps on the in car system just in case!

Any help or advice is gratefully recieved!

Thanks

James

I think if you press and hold SETUP, go to Version, it will give you the part number there.
