Jacking points

Featured Replies

I’m planning on painting my wheel hubs and brake callipers soon and wish to use my axle stands. Anybody know where to stick them? Polite answers only please. 😜

Are you asking about Jacking Points? Under sills.

Or axle stand points? Under suspension arms or chassis rails.

Please don’t start anything without being crystal clear on what you’re doing. Or “Phone A Friend” 😀

Axel stand Positions. Poor thread title on my part. 🤔

Jacking points are obvious, but have never trusted a jack for anything other than changing a wheel.

I did find suggested positions for axle stands on the Superb section of the forum , but not sure how applicable these are to the Kodiaq.

I made a start with the painting after finding the axel stand covers near the rear jacking position.

Looking good!

What made you go for black for the calipers instead of the factory silver?

I did the hubs on the E-Class a month or so ago, used a brush instead of a rattle can though so the finish isn't as good, but hopefully a little more durable...

Thanks.

I really chose black just for a change, I painted my last car’s callipers silver and it was always going either black or silver.

I used galvanic silver in a rattle can for the hubs ,but a brush for the callipers.

One down, three to go! 😀

I hammerited smooth silver on hubs with a brush came out ok and did front callipers red just to tie in with the other bits still not got round to rear callipers but I hear it’s going to be a nice weekend so may crack on

Also good to know about rear points for axel stands I’ve been using sills with a rubber cup and axel stands on suspension cups.

I still don’t feel comfortable with using the actual jacking sill points

Go for it! Might be the last chance this year. 😁
