Interior trim issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just fitted a dab adapter to my yeti, works superb. The only issue is that when i was taping the aerial wire behind a trim panel (low down right hand side of passenger footwell) one of the clips popped out.

The trim panel is now loose, and although not a major issue i would prefer to secure the clip. The problem is i havent a clue how to do this as the clip i need to secure is behind the trim and i can't see it! Has anyone had the whole trim panel off and can try and explain how to secure the clip? Its the left hand side clip that popped open.

Ive checked a maintainance manual and it doesnt tell you or show a picture of the clip.

Many thanks.

Paul.

If the clip is intact, (they often snap instead of unclipping(, they are usully clicked into a notch themselves on the back of the moulding. Feel behind and see if you can feel the clip and if it is still in its correct position. Sometimes the clip pulls out of its notch instead of unclipping. If so you will need to lever it out and refit, or replace if broken. If it is in its notch corretly the point of the clip should line up with the hole it clips into; a sharp tap on the moulding should pop it back ito place.

Cheers ken, it feels intact by touch. The thing it clips onto is a metal bracket, didnt know if it clipped onto the top of the bracket or in a hole on the front of the bracket. I will try to get it into the hole, kniwing my luck I'll end up unclipping the other side whilst trying!

Use a small mirror and a torch to see what is going on behind the moulding

Hi Paul,  What DAB adapter did you fit?.  My Yeti has no DAB so I would like to fit something similar.  Whereabouts on the Dash is the best place to locate it?.

Its made by first e i think. Its on amazon for about £38 model dab 105B. Ive got the version that plugs into the power outlet between the front seats. Its mounted on a bendi stick so you can adjust it so it doesnt block access to handbrake. Also this version removes the power cable, so just the aerial cable and aux cable to place. The aerial cable is hidden behind the a pillar (careful with airbag) then carefully pushed into gap between door and dashboard, goes around the footwell right at the back high up, then under the trim i mentioned where it comes out directly below the power socket. The aux cable is less tidy. Ive used the adhesive clips they give you to routebit down the dashboard. Pics hopefully below.

Thanks for the info, glad to hear it's working well.  There is mixed reviews on the windscreen aerials.

I think it all depends on where you live and the strength of the signal. Luckily im in greater manchester and get a good strong signal so the windscreen aerial works very well. Ive had one or two quick signal drops, but nothing major. I can imagine the further from the transmitter you are, or in hilly places you might not be so lucky.
