Sourcing Parts.

Featured Replies

Howdy everyone.

for the 2.0 16v TDI 103 kw engine.

Can i just source parts for any VW 2.0 TDI 2.0 liter (within the same manufactured year) or does it need to be specifically designated skoda, for example the link below.

https://www.xtremediesel.com/afe-stage-2-pro-dry-s-cold-air-intake-system-51-81711

this would be nice, it looks like it should fit.

just an example.

and do i really need to pay that much attention to the KW output for this engine, i cannot imagine the difference in the engines is all that great, just a remap and a bigger turbo?

I think the real question is, is there another VW car that i can pick and play with parts that fit in the skoda as well? octavia vs {passat or golf}?

Check the engine code matches, then itl be fine.

Any mk4 golf platform car various bits will fit - A3, leon.

Doesnt have to be skoda, just confirm part numbers will fit.

Pay attention to suspension stuff though... lot of stuff is octy specific due to weight distribution difference, but many mk4 options gets sold as "compatible". Yes, they might fit, but wont look/feel/drive right.

Surely the MK4 would be closer to a MK1 Octavia than a MK2... Do you mean the MK5/MK6 Golf?

MK5 and MK6 Golf should both be PQ35 as should the MK2 Octavia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Group_A_platform#A5

MQB is much more modern, that'll be a MK7 Golf or a MK3 Octavia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Group_MQB_platform#MQB-based_models

What I tend to do is ask the seller for exact dimensions, then play around the engine bay with a measuring tape! :D As long as inlet size is okay everything else should be fine, given you've measured up the intake box.
