Loud ticking noise

Featured Replies

Sometimes the noise is activated when going over a bump. It's proving difficult to find the cause. I have noticed on start-up in hot conditions that the car (Fabia Mk2 1.2 44kw) shows a cold engine symbol, so wondering if it might be the engine heat sensor?

The noise seems to be coming front the front n/s wheel.

Anyone out there with some knowledge about this would be appreciated.

Cheers,

N

That’s pretty vague, not much to go on.

Noises coming from the wheel area going over bumps, anti roll bar drop link would be a good place to start.

The cold light might just come on and go off very quick. Do you mean a single "Click" over the bump or a continual "Tick-tick-tick, once it starts?

Ad Techie says, link bars could be ever so slightly loose so as to not even be able to move them by hand, (The car weighs a ton and a half). Could be other bushes/links/shocks/springs or something like the brake disc shields hitting the disc, etc. This is usually just a case of pushing it away from the disc a little. Sometimes a stone gets trapped there and they grind/tick a bit.
