Just noticed the glovebox light does not turn off when shut. I was taking some stuff out of the top box and felt the base was very hot. Can I just just pull out the light casing to remove the bulb, as I don’t want to fiddle around taking the whole thing apart just to get to the switch. 

Yes you can. Very common fault. However it’s not hard to fix, the switch just wants clipping back in and securing.
