I have an Octavia from 2015 with a MiB1. What are my options for upgrading it?

 

I know it's an option to buy an alternative system from pioneer, but is it possible to buy a MiB2 and install it? I have seen many threads asking this quesion, but no clear answer.

If you check out Sasha Grace 2014 Vrs estate you will see she has installed not only Virtual Fleapit on her dash plus the MiB2 Columbus 9.2" screen. Anything is possible given a large enough budget.

Right. But is it possible within a reasonable budget? i.e. ~1000 eur for the device and less than 1000 eur for the labour

Even the highest spec MIB2.5 Columbus is doable for under €2000. In a nutshell you will need a radio unit, a screen and a USB. The radio you pick will depend on which size screen you want. You will need to have Component Protection removed from the radio unit and then coding done outside the dealer network to patch the radio and activate the features. Pab567 from this forum is the man I have used for all my VAG radio work and I recommend him to everyone.

Thank you for your reply. The thing I am most worried about is: How smooth is the integration with the rest of the car? The control buttons on the steering wheel, the small display beside the spedometer (whatever it is called).,

It’s perfect, exactly as per factory. It is a factory radio and behaves as such.

 

Any experiences of upgrading MIB1 Amundsen which has Canton to a later Columbus. Are there pitfalls related to optical connection to any later specific Columbus models

If you have a CANTON equipped car you will need a matching MIB2 amp.
