Blind spot assist stopped working

Noticed the other day while on the motorway that the blind spot assist was not working. I went into the assistance menu and saw it was turned off but when I turn it on it just comes up with the message "function currently not available"

There are no fault messages coming up for this so not sure why they have just suddenly stopped working?

I assume this system uses the same sensors are the parking assist, I have tested these buy covering them when park is active & they all seem to be working correctly.

Anyone got any idea on what the problem could be or how to fix before I contact the dealer? The cars is a 2017 Vrs 245.

Had something similar the other week although had unrelated repair work carried out on car. In my case I'd enable Blind Spot Monitoring ( and park assist) and both would work but the system wouldn't retain the settings therefore I had to enable them each time I drove the car.  Not that I ever saw it but had been told an error message similar to what you're experiencing flashed up for a brief second saying the system wasn't avalable.

 

In the end my car needed re-coding for the system to function normally.

 

Not 100% sure but I don't think Blind Spot Monitor works off the park assist sensors  - I seem to remember reading somewhere that it works off another radar sensor hidden behind the rear bumper. (one each side of the car )
