2014 Octavia 100k miles

Featured Replies

Posted about a fabia estate I was interested in but decided an octavia would be more suitable for me.

What advice would you give on any problems to be aware of an octavia 1.6 diesel doing 20k a year.

It has full service history with cambelt a couple other things done recently.

This is probably a simple question but I am not a car guy and it will be my first.

Any help is appreciated

Who knows what treatment it's been subjected to during its 100k life but if it drives ok without any rattles and noises, the tyres are wearing evenly, the oils been changed and check the water pump issue has been sorted out. Is it manual or dodgy DSG gearbox. Best take someone to look at it for you if in doubt .

Hmmm I wouldn't, that 1.6tdi engine/gearbox needs quite a bit of working to make reasonable progress & anyone doing 20k p.a. I'd suggest, would be wanting to make reasonable progress. To me, there's a lotta maintenance & breakdown potential in an underpowered car with 100k on the clock.

If budget is an issue, I'd suggest looking at the 1.4tsi, should around the same price, the fuel economy not a million miles away from the TDI & it's so much quieter place to be.

If you really need a diesel, get the 2litre
