engine swaps

Featured Replies

Are engines all interchangable between skoda octavias 2006-2010?

What is your definition of interchangeable?

All sorts of mad engine swaps are possible with enough time and money. Some are easier but others will require more drastic changes like gearbox, driveshafts, custom engine mounts & wiring looms etc.

Do you have a specific swap in mind?

Example: will a 2.0tdi out of a 2015 scout drop straight into a 2009 scout? Do the gearboxes all match? Will the ecu just plug straight in etc.... i am contemplating doing this but i’m only willing to do it if it is relatively easy(no modifications required.)

That's gonna be a lot of work. A 2009 Octavia is PQ35 platform and a 2015 Octavia will be MQB platform...

If you're going to do it, at least start with a PQ35/46 platform car as it's much more likely to be compatible with a 2009 Scout ;)

I think this is more a question of whether or not the engine codes match, rather than the platform. If the newer engine is the same but with different mounts for the different platform, that should be easily solved using the existing mounting hardware. If it has different or additional sensors, then it is likely to have a different engine code, I think. Potentially the sensors are in the same place but with different wiring or connectors, so would require the sensors swapping for the older ones.

The engine codes won't match as they are completely different generations of engine ;)

2009 probably has a EA189 (possibly EA188) where as the 2015 will be EA288...

That's probably the answer the OP needed.
