Spurious faults.

Featured Replies

Hi folks.

Just wondering had a few spurious faults on the car over the last few weeks and I thought I would ask if any of you have had the same thing.

1. Oil sensor failure (workshop) + Start/Stop system.

Had this today and worried me thinking that the engine was going to go kaput, I got the car home ok and called the dealer who put me in touch with skoda assist (aka AA), I checked the car with OBD11 and it came up with two faults high temperature and low pressure. So I let the car stand for a while and checked the oil level it was fine, about 50%, but I thought that I'd top it up anyway to see if that was the problem, no fault still extant.

AA man turns up and plugs his diagnostic system into the car, two unknown faults there, but no oil fault, making me feel a real plonker, tested the car tonight, no fault lights, nothing oil still at around the 50-60% mark, goes fine, but it's just a bit weird that if it was low oil, why not say low oil, add oil, rather than sensor failure and no fault codes.

2. Infotainment system.

It turns itself back on when I've turned it off and then it turns itself back off again without any intervention, turn it back on manually and it takes a while to restart, once done it performs perfectly and does for days, also the time and date reset itself, so it came on the other day and said the incorrect time and date, had a look in the settings and it said that it was 01.01.1970! 🤔

3. Gateway.

Over voltage, but I think that one has been traced to the phone charger in the lighter socket, someone else has mentioned it somewhere.

4. Alarm fault - level 1.

I still can't trace or track it down, it wouldn't lock the other day despite the key being in my pocket, it did eventually lock after 3 attempts, something that it hasn't repeated.

5. Steering wheel.

Got in and the steering wheel just clicks and goes nuts trying to release itself despite the key being in the cup holder or on my belt. I have to fight it to get the car started.

Anyone else had these odd things with their car?

If so how did you resolve them? Have they been a recurring issue?

TIA.
