Good for you.

There is almost always some good sense in buying a "run out" model, as opposed to being an 'early adopter' - you have your best shot of getting a car that will have had many of the bugs ironed out!

I'm new here, but skating around the postings, I see a number of issues that may well have been addressed in the car I bought a few weeks ago - the newer (I assume) gearbox is very good; the car has 4 very nice plastic wheel arch inserts - I'm sure there are many more, both visible and invisible.

Obviously, all manufactured products are reviewed by the production team to "take cost out", and this has potential to make something worse, but by and large, manufacturers don't want to risk racking up warranty claims or owner dissatisfaction more than is necessary! :)

Ahh, will have a look if got wheel arch inserts. Remember now the noises from bits hitting bare metal.....

It's a new one, was only one available in UK dock when dealer looked, so snaffled it.

My new Citigo is an SE-L 75ps version and it happened to have 16" wheels, DAB radio, front mats and a proper spare wheel included - but I am guessing that all recent Citogos will have the wheel arch lining.

The Monte Carlo has even more kit, I believe - you'll love it.

My first impressions were that mine was well-assembled, everything fitted and worked, no rattles, squeaks etc - so far so good, but many folk reckon my front disks will become warped. I'm loving the £135 a year fully comp insurance, tiny size, and the infrequency of filling with fuel, after a 3.0l V6 pickup truck! 😞

Nice ! I was actually after a second hand SE-L myself but there was none about. seen 2 as we were looking at dealers stock and as we went for them both they sold. 😞

Only thing I wanted was heated mirrors same as my last 2.

Got home and dealer called saying he found a new monte carlo in dock in kent somewhere (near the sea I presume) and we had to be quick so got that new.

Had me heated mirrors and seats, air con, trip computer , cruise control  and reversing sensors no Dab sadly but may get a Dab adaptor, only listen to footy on radio really so not oo bothered about that.

And yes, it does have the arch liners , nice addition .

  • 2 weeks later...

When we bought my wifes Citigo back in May it was already nearly 6 months old so a 68 reg, rather than all the pre-reg 19 ones on the forecourt. However it was a colour edition, 25 miles only and after we agreed to buy it the salesman realised it had a spare wheel and the DAB radio options that had been missed when pricing it up! Much prefer the colour and spec of this compared to all the boring 19 reg base models that were the alternative.

SE-L's must be hard or impossible to find now, and there were no cars around then as new with the 75ps engine?

I've yet to hear of an unhappy Citygo driver, I need to persuade my wife she needs to replace her ancient Ka.

I possibly got one of the very last SE-L's with the 75ps tuning*. It's in pearlescent black (really, it'snot so bad), and it does not seem to need to be cleaned much, which I did not expect :)

Having come from a diesel (I hated diesels, but needed a pickup truck to tow) I love the revvy (if not smooth) nature of the little triple... Which is to say, yes, I do sometimes use it in the rev range where that 25% extra power shows up over the 60ps version, but let's be honest, both are ridiculously slow, but I enjoy the economy and small size of the thing. My truck had nearly 5.8 times the toque, so my driving technique has changed a lot :)

*nowt wrong with 60ps in city car, and I hear you can flash the ECU with the map from the 75ps version, for not a lot of money if you fancy.
